Donald Trump departs from the White House

Washington: Outgoing US President Donald Trump has left the White House as the president for the last time, ahead of the inauguration of president-elect Joe Biden in Washington.

At Joint Air Force Base Andrews, Trump said, “This has been an incredible four years. We accomplished so much together. I want to thank my family, friends and my staff. Want to thank you for your effort. People have no idea how hard this family worked.”

He said, “We have the greatest country and economy in the world. We were hit so hard by the pandemic. We did something that is considered a medical miracle- the vaccine which was developed in 9 months.”

I will always fight for you. I will be watching, listening. The future of this country has never been better. I wish the new administration great luck and success. I think they have the foundation to do something really spectacular, Trump added.

Today, Joe Biden will officially become president of the United States when he and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris take their oaths of office on the West Front of the US Capitol. Inauguration Day celebrations will be marked by increased security measures following the January 6 attack on the US Capitol building, and a variety of social distancing precautions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Lady Gaga is set to perform the national anthem at President-elect Joe Biden’s swearing-in ceremony. The singer’s ties to Mr. Biden date back to his time as vice president, when they worked on a campaign to fight sexual assault on college campuses.
